Fans will cool every room in your home
If you have trouble sleeping, cooking, or working when the hot, humid weather hits, fans will be an instant solution. Fans create a cool breeze and move air through your home, and there are many different types of fans you can choose to keep you comfortable.
Tower fans
A tower fan looks just like a tower. This tall, compact oscillating fan has a rotating base and inner mechanism to generate a powerful stream of air. Tower fans oscillate back and forth to push air to all corners of the room and are great for cooling small to medium rooms.
Table fans
Table fans are small fans that sit on your table or desk. They are one of the most common styles of electric fans. They’re designed to be portable, so they are lightweight and easy to pick up and move. A table fan will blow cool air directly at you, so will only cool off a small area. You can find fixed table fans that blow air in one direction or oscillating fans that move side to side.
Floor fans
A floor fan is a fan that sits on your floor. One of the best fans for cooling, this style of fan is available in a box shape or in a round, traditional style that sits on a solid base. You can place a floor fan anywhere you need a strong breeze. They generally have three speeds, and while most floor fans don’t oscillate you can find some styles that have internal oscillation to circulate air.
Pedestal fans
A pedestal fan is a traditional round fan that sits on the top of a stand. Designed to be unobtrusive and sit in the corner of a room, a pedestal fan will oscillate to push a strong breeze to every corner of a medium to large area. Some pedestal fans have controls on the back of the fan, some have a control panel on the stand, and others will also include a remote control so you can turn it on, off, and change speeds from another part of the room.
Handheld fans
While not as powerful as other styles of cooling fans, handheld fans are great if you’d like to carry a cool breeze with you. You can find handheld fans that clip to your desk, plug into your USB port for power, or run on batteries. There are also some handheld fans that do double duty as a water mister or aroma diffuser.
Wall fans
A wall fan has a base plate that mounts a traditional fan head to your wall. The wall fan will plug into an outlet and will circulate air around your room. Most wall fans have two to three speeds, are easy to mount on the wall, and can oscillate or stay fixed to blow air into one area.
Window fans
When you want to move hot air out of a room or push a cool breeze into one, a window fan will get the job done. A window fan has reversible blades so it can switch between exhaust to dispel hot air out of a room or cooling, to bring cool air from the outside into the room. You can install a window fan horizontally or vertically, and because of the way they fit your window they will keep the bugs out and cool air in.
Air movers
An air mover is a small, compact fan designed to dry your floors, carpets, or freshly painted walls. Generally used in the event of water damage or during renovation and construction, this style of fan can daisy chain to other air movers to provide coverage in a large room.
