Battery and Electronic Recycling Program

We want to make it easy for all of our customers to recycle responsibly, and limit the toxic pollution and e-waste in landfills. Our recycling program is available at most of our stores across Canada so you can recycle batteries and select electronics, even if you didn't buy them from us.

What items can I bring in for recycling?

We’ve partnered with Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) and Call2Recycle to recycle products ranging from batteries and cellphones to microwaves and home theatre systems.

The following items are accepted for recycling:

  • Batteries (alkaline, lithium ion, rechargeable, and cell phone batteries under 5 pounds)

  • Desktop & Portable Scanners

Which Best Buy stores accept recycling?

Battery recycling is available at all Best Buy locations across Canada. Just go to any store and put batteries directly in the Call2Recycle box.

Electronics recycling is available at our big box stores across Canada. Just bring your electronics item to the Customer Service desk and a Blue Shirt will assist you.

Electronics recycling is not available at the following stores:

  • Best Buy Mobile stores
  • Best Buy Express stores
  • Best Buy kiosks

What should I do before I recycle my item?

Remove personal information from electronic devices before you recycle them. We’re not liable for any data that’s still on your device, and we can’t recover or return any recycled products.

If you want to recycle something that’s not on our list, please contact your local municipality for details on how to recycle or throw it out properly.
