Baby Travel Systems: Click and Go with Ease

Being the parent of a newborn is challenging enough. You’re sleep deprived, confused, and constantly travelling with so much stuff you can’t keep track of it all. So when it comes to getting your little one from Point A to Point B safe and sound, anything that makes your life even a little bit smoother and easier is an absolute necessity.

If you’re expecting a little bundle of joy and haven’t picked out a stroller or car seat yet, here’s the skinny on everything you need to know about baby travel systems.

What is a Baby Travel System?

A travel system takes the guesswork out of finding a compatible stroller and infant car seat. Travel systems are also usually a better deal than purchasing a stroller and infant car seat separately.

A travel system typically includes a stroller, detachable stroller seat, infant car seat, and stay-in-car base. Once the base is installed in the car, the infant car seat can be quickly moved from the car to the stroller and vice versa with a simple click.

Why Use a Travel System?

Travel systems make getting around with your baby as easy as possible. Instead of constantly buckling your little one into and out of the car seat and the stroller separately, you just buckle them into the car seat. Click the car seat into the car in an instant and when you arrive at the park or grandma’s house, you can remove the car seat just as easily and click it into the stroller.

The best part? If baby was finally (finally!) down for a nap, you don’t have to wake her up when you need to move her from the car to the stroller or the house.

Are All Car Seats Compatible with Strollers?

Only infant car seats are compatible with strollers, but compatibility is also limited to specific brands. For example, an infant car seat from one brand will usually not be compatible with a stroller from another brand.

Likewise, simply having an infant car seat and stroller from the same brand won’t mean they will be compatible with each other. If you’re purchasing the car seat and stroller separately, you’ll need to ensure that each model is specifically compatible with each other.

How Long Can I Use a Travel System?

When you’re buying a baby travel system, try to pick one with a stroller you’ll want to use for the long haul. Infant car seats are only intended to be used until your baby is 12 months old or 22 pounds (whichever comes first). At that point, you’ll need to transition your little one to a convertible car seat, which stays in the car.

Once your little one has outgrown the infant car seat, you can continue to use the stroller with the detachable stroller seat for several years. The stroller seat is typically safe for infants aged 6 and up.
