Google Pixel Watch 2
Track your stats with Google Pixel Watch 2
Google has introduced its second-generation smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch 2, which offers a host of improvements over the original.
What is the Google Pixel Watch 2?
The Google Pixel Watch 2 is Google’s second-generation smartwatch, following up from the original Google Pixel Watch.
Integrating Fitbit’s app and reliable tracking, it has features like auto workout mode and 40 exercise modes, heart rate zone training, goal setting, and pace training with real-time feedback on runs. You can keep on top of all your health and wellness stats, from heart rate to stress, safety, activity, steps, calorie burn, and more. Google smarts means access to Google apps and features like Wallet, Maps, and Assistant, and the ability to answer calls, texts, and e-mails, play music, and more.
Available in matte black, polished silver, or Champagne gold, it features an aluminum case and active band options in Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, or Hazel as well as woven, sport, and leather bands. The LTE option gives you cellular connectivity without your phone. It works with most phones running Android 9.0 or later and requires a Google account, along with a Fitbit account for some features. Easily pair it with a compatible Google device like a Pixel Phone or Pixel Buds using Fast Pair; and even control your Pixel phone camera from the watch.
What’s different with the Google Pixel Watch 2?
Like the original Pixel Watch, the Google Pixel Watch 2 combines the best of Google and Fitbit, offering personalized insights to focus on health, keep on top of progress, and stay connected.
With an always-on display, the smartwatch includes improved heart rate tracking from Fitbit combined with Google AI, with sensors that offer the most accurate, precise readings to date. There are three advanced sensors, including one for skin temperature, which tracks variations that could be related to sleep, environment, menstrual cycle, or changes in wellness. Stress management detects potential signs of stress so you can better manage it in the moment.
Access popular Google apps like Gmail and Calendar right from your wrist and leverage personal safety features. With longer battery life at up to 24 hours per charge with the always-on display activated and faster charging via USB-C, the Pixel Watch 2 is also made from 100% recycled aluminum that Google says is more comfortable to wear all day.
Safety and other features in the Google Pixel Watch 2
Smartwatches are useful tools for helping in the event of an emergency. Take an ECG reading with the Google Pixel Watch 2 to assess heart rhythm and detect anything irregular, plus receive relevant notifications.
Like with the original, fall detection can connect you to emergency services if you have had a hard fall, and even auto-dial if you are not responsive. Emergency SOS can alert trusted contacts or emergency services if you feel unsafe. With Safety Check, set a timer and if it expires without a response, the watch will automatically share your location with close contacts. There’s also a Safety Signal feature with a Fitbit Premium subscription (six-month trial included) and the LTE version of the Watch.
A subscription to Fitbit Premium affords access workouts, mindfulness exercises, nutrition information, additional features like Readiness Score, more detailed sleep tracking, and more. The Google Pixel Watch 2 comes with one month of YouTube Music Premium access for new users as well.
