Hearing and talking with comfort and no wires
How do the Galaxy Buds Live work?
The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live are true wireless earbuds, so there are no cables or wires connecting the two earpieces, or the device you’re listening from. These work with Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app for Android and iOS, where they can quickly pair with your smartphone or tablet. Once you’ve paired via Bluetooth, you’re able to listen to music and talk on the phone.
Whenever you are connected to your device, the Galaxy Wearable app acts as the software component, with settings to customize touch-sensitive controls on each earbud, an equalizer for audio playback, and a Find My Buds feature to help find them in case you misplace them.
When the battery level gets low, put them in their charging case. When full, the case can give you an extra two full charges for a full day of listening. The unique design also makes them very easy to carry and take with you in any pocket or purse. With wireless charging support, you also gain the convenience of simply placing them on top of a pad or charging surface.
What makes the Galaxy Buds Live different from the Galaxy Buds+?
While Samsung makes both models, they are considerably different in both design and performance. What makes the Galaxy Buds Live so unique is that they don’t have an actual earbud that nestles into your ear canal. Rather, it rests along your inner ear, with the speaker facing toward your ear canal. It reduces pressure that way, and ensures you can keep listening for longer without having to readjust all the time.
The Galaxy Buds Live are equipped with 12mm drivers for extra power, as well as active noise cancellation (ANC), which uses the three onboard microphones to block out ambient sound. Those microphones also do important work to ensure phone calls are clearer whenever you’re talking to someone.
The Galaxy Buds+ have better passive noise isolation, meaning they create a better seal because the earbud blocks out some noise when positioned in the ear canal. Those earbuds don’t have ANC support, but do have an ambient noise mode that uses the microphones to filter in background sound. That way, it’s safe to walk on a busy street, or briefly talk to someone without taking the earbuds off.
Who are the Galaxy Buds Live best for?
Samsung tried to address concerns over comfort and stability in making the Galaxy Buds Live. Those who find that other true wireless earbuds uncomfortable may find this unique design to be easier to manage. They do not have an electronic ambient mode, like the Galaxy Buds+ do, because the more open fit allows some background noise in by default.
The Galaxy Buds Live are also compatible with Samsung mobile devices, particularly smartphones and tablets. Other Android phones and tablets will work just fine as well, as does an Apple iPhone and iPad. Not all features will work with Apple’s products, but many are still there in the iOS version of the Galaxy Wearable app.
They also come in three classy colours, including the newer mystic bronze, which matches with some of Samsung’s latest products.
