Samsung Galaxy Watch4
The Galaxy Watch4 is your coach on your wrist
What to expect with the Galaxy Watch4
The Galaxy Watch4 replaces Samsung’s “Active” line of Galaxy Watch smartwatches, but while the name is no longer in the product, the action certainly is. This watch retains many of the same design principles, focusing on a sporty aesthetic that fits in with any activity you undertake.
It starts with a vibrant screen surrounded by an Armor Aluminum metal frame to keep things safe and sophisticated all at once. There is a sporty or leather band available, though it’s easy to swap them out for other bands to suit your need or occasion. The Galaxy Watch4 may be about staying active, but it can also fit in well in casual settings or a night out on the town.
Coming in both 40mm and 44mm sizes, the Galaxy Watch4 also accommodates a variety of wrists, with styles and bands that cater to all lifestyles. Along with the Galaxy Watch4 Classic, this is also one of the first Samsung smartwatches to support Google’s Wear OS, a mobile operating system designed purely for smartwatches. You will still see the same Samsung interface from previous Galaxy Watch models, only now it is within Wear OS.
How is the Galaxy Watch4 different?
The Galaxy Watch4 brings back the touch-based bezel to help you navigate the interface and get to the apps and settings you want in no time. This is different from the Galaxy Watch4 Classic’s physical rotating bezel that performs the same functionality, as that model sticks with the traditional design that has been a staple in Samsung’s smartwatches for years now.
Some things are the same, and they include new health tracking features, like Body Composition. With this feature, the Galaxy Watch4 tracks body fat percentage, fat mass, skeletal muscle and body water to come up with a composite giving you an indication over where you stand when it comes to achieving the health and fitness goals you set for yourself.
As an active watch, the Galaxy Watch4 is also waterproof. With a 5ATM plus IP68 rating, it can reach depths of up to 50 metres, as well as take a certain level of punishment, opening up the opportunity to out and explore without concern over whether this watch can handle the journey.
It also automatically tracks up to six popular exercises, and has a full list of 90 that you can tap into when it’s time to break a sweat. You don’t have to be an avid gym rat to make use of those features, as the exercises cover both high intensity and low intensity workouts. Group Challenges also let you involve friends and family for some friendly competition to push each other to new heights.
Who is the Galaxy Watch4 for?
If you’ve always wanted insight into how you sleep, the onboard SpO2 sensor measures your blood oxygen levels while you sleep. It even detects snoring to prove whether you or someone with you is actually doing so. The simplicity of Wear OS also pays dividends with a paired Galaxy smartphone. Download an app your phone, and you will see the Wear OS version automatically download to your watch as well, keeping everything in sync.
Wear OS puts the Galaxy Watch4 more in sync with Android, with the app selection on the Google Play Store available at all times. More will come in the future, as the app options continue to grow, enabling your watch to do so much more.
From phone calls to voice assistance, the Galaxy Watch4 is more than capable. The LTE version also lets you stay connected without a phone, or to listen to music without carrying an extra gadget with you on a run. And for colours, Samsung offers a real variety for you to choose from as you find the look that fits with your taste and lifestyle the most.
