Nice little machine
- January 14, 2021Very good design. Do the job it suppose to do. I want to create clear PDF file with this scanner. It is doing good job. And the good thing is, it doesn't need external power supply. A USB line do the data transmission and power supply. I like it.

Doer not make .jpg documents
- April 3, 2022This scanner is easy to use and faster than the one I had before (for 17 years). But I am not satisfied that it cannot make .jpg documents but only .pdf documents. That situation should have been shown up in the promotional documents.

Perfect for my purposes
- August 29, 2020I hold back on a 5-star review only because i haven't explored the full extent of this item's capabilities. It's wonderfully portable (even when carried in its packaging), and simple to power (through USB). Works seamlessly with Mac's Preview app. Its 1200 dpi scans are great for scanning old family photos. Occasionally, a scan would result in a solid black image, but disconnect/reconnect would usually correct the issue.

OK now after IJ Scan learning curve
- June 27, 2021This would be a five star were it not for the fact that scan utility software that comes with the unit is not the same as my older Canon flatbed scanner. It might not be fair for me to knock off a star because of my own learning curve issues, but when at first use is appeared that the LiDE 300 did NOT scan up to 2400dpi, I was some peeved, because all sales are final. I do not need two Canon scanners that do the same thing. The Lide 300 DOES do as advertised and I look forward to working with the machine.

Didn’t Work
- April 1, 2023I must’ve received a lemon. I thought it was a MacOS compatibility issue (Monterey/Ventura) but it didn’t work with my Windows 11 laptop either. Canon IJ scanner software installs fine on all computers and scanner is detected on all computers… But nothing happens when I click ‘scan’ on MacOS, and on Windows I get an error that the scanner is not connected, even though it’s detected, because it’s physically connected! I will be returning this to Best Buy and getting an Epson scanner instead.

Great scanner
- April 21, 2021I actually downgraded from the LiDE 400 to 300 because (a) I don't need the stand and (b) I researched and discovered that the average user doesn't require more than 600 DPI. (Photo shops print most images at 300 DPI. More doesn't mean better image quality, so beyond that is a waste of memory space. The really high resolutions are for negatives or commercial printing.)

Good Product
- December 24, 2020The scanner was easy to install and works great on several computers. The included scanning app is pretty basic but I have had no problems accessing the scanner from other, more feature rich applications.
