What customers are saying

This lens offers excellent image quality with outstanding sharpness, contrast, and color across the focal range. The constant F2.8 aperture provides versatility in low light. The autofocus is fast and accurate, and the build quality is solid. While lacking optical stabilization may be a downside for some, the lens pairs well with in-body stabilization on newer cameras. Overall, this is a high-performance standard zoom lens that delivers professional-level results.

I bought this about 2 months ago and it is the go to lens for the a6600. It does an amazing job, very fast, great bokeh.

Everything to love about this lens

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 21, 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sure it's missing image stabilization, so the price tag will make you skeptical, It did to me too. It's f2.8 across the full length of the zoom. The lens produces incredibly clear and sharp images. I use a A6300 (no IBIS). I have shot from both hand held and mounted on tripod, same wonderful clear, crisp sharp results with excellent color, both indoor and out.

    Many lenses in one

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 10, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lightning fast auto-focus, but quiet as a mouse. Zoom range goes from borderline ultra-wide to a moderately tight portrait. The 2.8 aperture throughout the zoom makes for decent background seperation, especially at longer focal lengths. Works excellent on my a6600.

    Lives up to its reputation

My wife bought me this for Christmas and I've been playing with it since. This is definitely the best lense I have for my a6500. Very sharp at full aperture and easy to use. I love the constant f2.8. This will go with me everywhere. It'll probably not be my video lense of choice as my 24mm f1.8 Zeiss prime works better on the gimbal and is also a beautiful lense.

Great Lens for both a6600 and a7c

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 13, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great addition to any camera bag we use for our YouTube cooking show The Felix's. Joys of Cooking. I interchange this lens with a7c and a6600 doesn't disappoint.

Compact with lovely handling & optical performance

    Reviewed by - March 19, 2024

I wanted a lens that would give me close to the same range on my A6700 as I enjoy on my Sony R1s and this has fitted the bill very nicely. It’s a compact zoom that is easy to carry around that is well made and finished, looking handsome on the A6700. Zoom and focus rings have well-weighted movements. The lens mount is tight and positive. The 67mm filter thread allows me to adopt a lot of the accessories that I use on the R1s and the other lenses I have for this system. The already decent close framing at the long end is boosted to mild macro levels with a 10mm extension tube or a supplementary close-up lens such as the Sony VCL-M3367, both of which are light and easy to carry and further extend the versatility of this zoom. Optically, this is a very good performer and the constant f2.8 aperture makes it versatile in all lighting conditions. When stopped down a little you get the best out of it. Pixel peeping reveals very good, if not stellar, micro-contrast but sharpness is admirable and I’m very happy with the results so far. Focus speed is excellent and it’s good that Sony have provided a focus-hold button on the lens body as well as the AF / MF switch. Stabilisation provided by the A6700 works very well with this lens allowing me to shoot down to 1/20 sec. at the telephoto-end - pretty remarkable. This lens is an ideal walk-around and travel companion with lovely handling and I’m going to be using it often.

    Great lens

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - October 25, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this lens for just about a year now and it is on my a6600 most of the time. This in not a small lens, but it is a quality lens that beats every other zoom option in the system. This is essentially a 24-82mm equivalent in the full frame world. It is as sharp a lens as you can find on Sony and with the a6400 and a6500 cameras you will nail focus in almost every situation. Get this and the E 70-350 and you will have most situations covered in a small package.
