An iPhone with a Plus side to it
The iPhone 15 Plus makes it easier to take a closer look
With a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, the iPhone 15 Plus is the larger option compared to the smaller iPhone 15. So, when you want a phone with more screen to look at, this could be the best way to get there. A larger display makes everything just a little bigger and easier to see, especially with the sharpness and resolution available on this device.
It gets even better now that Dynamic Island is part of the onscreen experience, a feature Apple has carried over from its Pro models that turns the cutout around the TrueDepth camera into a widget that shortcuts to key information you want access to when you need it. It adds real utility to an otherwise vibrant display, where you can use it to handle phone calls, view mapping directions, control your music, pay with Apple Pay, see your AirPods battery life and much more.
With Ceramic Shield glass covering the screen, there’s better resistance to scratches and blemishes impacting it. Put the right case or screen protector on it for added protection, and you can feel more confident in keeping the phone safe. Speaking of which, Crash Detection will detect if you’ve been in a crash or collision and notify first responders in case you’re unresponsive. Stuck in the middle of nowhere and need help? Emergency SOS uses satellite connectivity to keep you in touch with someone who can help, even when you don’t have reception.
Built to last, and ready to play with others
The iPhone 15 Plus runs on Apple’s own A16 Bionic processor, the same chipset from the iPhone 14 Pro models. That’s a big reason why it runs as efficiently as it does, improving key features like speed, overall performance and battery life. That bodes well for everything you want to do on iOS, no matter what apps you use most, or the ones you will use in the future at some point. Plus, a “Plus” screen like this is a nice way to enjoy playing fun games or getting creative with your own content.
Just like all the other iPhone 15 models, the 15 Plus is among the first iPhones to adopt a USB-C charging port, replacing the longstanding Lightning port Apple’s phones used before. USB-C is an industry standard, and this move aligns the 15 Plus with so many other products using the same port. That can include chargers, docks and adapters, among other accessories. Another advantage of USB-C is faster transfer speeds when you want to copy files over from your Mac or tether it for a live photo or video shoot.
Taking that extra photo is now easier than ever
Another major feature carried over from the iPhone 14 Pro series is the 48-megapixel main camera. This is the primary lens for the rear camera array, and on top of producing more true-to-life images in varying conditions, it also captures more light and detail in night and low-light conditions. You can also shoot at full resolution using ProRAW to process and edit those photos yourself with the right app on the iPhone 15 Plus.
There is no telephoto lens, so Apple effectively created one out of the main lens by cropping in for a 2x zoom, which captures a 12-megapixel image using only the pixels in the centre of the frame. Beyond that, there is also a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view that can pull back to fit a lot more into a single frame.
The Camera app also uses machine learning to help frame and set up photos before you even snap them. When a person or pet enters the frame, the app can automatically switch to portrait mode for a creamy bokeh effect that you can also adjust how you want. That includes after taking the photo, where it’s possible to refocus anywhere you want and save the photo after you’re done.
