Mid-range design with better value

The best parts of OnePlus at a more affordable price

The OnePlus 12R is a mid-range smartphone that borrows heavily from the advanced features available in the flagship OnePlus 12, only does it with the accessibility afforded by the brand’s R series devices. Available in Iron Grey and Cool Blue, the 12R features a vibrant 6.78-inch AMOLED display (2780 x 1264) with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and full support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and 10-bit colour. With 4,500 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, it’s a screen you won’t have as much trouble seeing in bright sunlight.

This phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, along with OnePlus’ Trinity Engine, proprietary technology enabling the 12R to manage the processor, memory and storage for the most effective performance. The new Dual Cryo-velocity cooling system uses newly-designed vapour chambers to reduce heat and keep the phone running cooler when running more demanding apps and games, optimizing overall performance even further.

You can get the OnePlus 12R with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or upgrade to 16GB and 256GB if you need more memory and space. It’s Wi-Fi 7 ready, supports Bluetooth 5.3 and works with hi-res audio Bluetooth codecs like aptX Adaptive, LHDC and LDAC for better audio quality when playing from the right source and wearing the right headphones or wireless earbuds.

A dependable camera ready to capture what you see

The OnePlus 12R is equipped with three cameras in its rear camera system, starting with the 50-megapixel wide lens. This is a different Sony image sensor from the one in the flagship OnePlus 12, so the two cameras may not snap photos or record video of the same exact quality. The rest of the rear camera array also differs, with the 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera (112-degree field of view) and 2-megapixel macro camera being exclusive to the 12R. The same goes for the 16-megapixel front camera as well.

The OnePlus 12R also doesn’t come with the features and collaborative input from Swedish photography brand Hasselblad, which are exclusive to the flagship 12. Many of the same modes OnePlus offers on that device are also present here, including HDR and colour software help to capture great images. Support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and 10-bit colour also apply to video, making it possible to record clear and compelling footage anywhere.

Plenty of power to go around

OnePlus doesn’t hold back from bringing more power to the 12R by way of the 5500mAh battery inside. It is large for a phone this size, ensuring it can last a full day on a single charge. Improved power efficiency through the Trinity Engine finds ways to maximize battery life with every task or app you use, all of which works in the background.

When it’s time to recharge, the included 80W SuperVOOC charging adapter and cable are fast enough to fully charge a dead battery in just 31 minutes. The OnePlus 12R doesn’t support wireless charging like its flagship sibling does, so you can’t use a Qi or Qi2 wireless charger to top it up.
