These headphones wrap sound around your head
Play nice with iOS and Android
To start with, the Beats Studio Pro continue to forge their own path independent of Apple’s own headphones. That includes the brand’s own audio chipset to deliver interesting features and solid performance to set it apart from everyone else.
However, by not using Apple’s own chip, newer AirPods features, like Adaptive Audio, simpler Siri activation (no need to say “Hi” or “Hey” anymore), custom personalized volume and Conversation Awareness, won’t be compatible with the Studio Pro.
Despite that, deep Apple integration still carries on with unique features for iOS devices, like one-touch quick pairing, hands-free Siri access, Apple Watch direct connections and Find My in case you misplace the headphones. Even Android users aren’t left behind courtesy of the Beats app that offers many similar features, not to mention Google Fast Pair and easy access to Google Assistant and Find My.
How are the Studio Pro different from other Beats headphones?
The Beats Studio Pro retain many of the same design cues that make the brand’s headphones so recognizable, so there’s nothing to worry about there. Subtle tweaks make them even more comfortable, starting with the UltraPlush memory foam wrapped in leather that should soften the cushioning just a little more. The headphones don’t get any lighter, but you do have four colours to choose from: a newer matte black, deep brown, navy and sandstone.
These headphones also boast a robust Transparency mode to help you hear your surroundings for safety and awareness while listening to audio content. In another first, the Studio Pro support Spatial Audio with head tracking, where virtual surround sound can fill your ears and feel immersive no matter how you move your head.
These are also the first Beats over-ear headphones to offer wired playback via the USB-C port. Not only does that let you listen to lossless and hi-res audio (up to 24-bit/48kHz) without issue through the built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC), it also means you can charge the headphones at the same time you’re using them for phone calls.
What can the Beats Studio Pro do?
Differences don’t just end there for the Beats Studio Pro. Equipped with new 40mm drivers and improved airflow mean these headphones can produce much less distortion at higher volumes than their predecessors, the Studio 3, could. Active noise cancellation (ANC) manages to drown out more of that unwanted background noise to keep you focused and enjoying the content you want to pay attention to. That includes phone calls, where you can expect up to 27% more clarity compared to the Studio 3.
Beats gives you a balanced sound right out of the box, with plenty of bass to complement the smooth mids and sharp highs, making these headphones more adaptable to varying musical tastes. The same physical controls also return to make things easy when adjusting volume or skipping a track, among other things.
With up to 40 hours of playback per charge (or 24 hours with ANC on), the Studio Pro won’t need a recharge all the time, making them perfect for commuting, travelling or working out. Whenever it’s time to stop, just fold them in and pack them away in their carrying case.
