Keep on top of weight and more with a Fitbit smart scale
Check your weight, body fat percentage, and more with a Fitbit smart scale that also seamlessly syncs with the Fitbit app to log changes over time.
What are Fitbit smart scales?
Fitbit Aria smart scales are bathroom scales with a twist: they connect via Bluetooth to your mobile device and sync with the Fitbit app. This lets you keep an ongoing log of your weight over time, making it easy to track changes in weight and body fat percentage over a period of days, weeks, months, even years.
A digital display shows the numerical data on screen as soon as you step on, taking a few seconds to log the accurate weight. Fitbit smart scales also capture more than just how many pounds or kilograms you weigh: they also track BMI and body fat percentage.
Battery-operated by three AAA batteries, you'll get up to a year of use, and a set of batteries come with the scale. Pop the batteries in, sync with your mobile device and add to the Fitbit app just as you would a new tracker, and you're off to the races.
What does a Fitbit smart scale measure?
In addition to your weight in pounds or kilograms, Fitbit Aria smart scales also capture your body mass index (BMI), a measure of your body fat based on height, weight, and gender, as well as body fat percentage, which measures your fat versus lean tissue. Add your stats to the app, step barefoot onto the scale, and these numbers will appear on the screen immediately following your weight.
Thanks to the app, you can review your weight, body fat percentage, and BMI in numbers and graphical representation to see how they change over time and determine patterns or attribute changes to specific activities or adjustments to your nutrition. Have you been consistently losing weight since eating healthier, or gaining weight but dropping body fat as you exercise and gain muscle? Sometimes, a graph of ongoing progress can be far more effective and motivating than just knowing how much you weigh day to day.
Are Fitbit smart scales worth it?
Fitbit scales are totally worth it, especially if you own a Fitbit tracker or smartwatch. Used alongside one of these and with the Fitbit app, you can get an even more holistic picture of your health and wellness, viewing all your stats in one easy-to-read dashboard, including daily steps and active minutes, exercise, calories burned, sleep duration and quality, heart rate, breathing rate (with some trackers), and even hydration and nutrition should you choose to manually upload this information.
Knowing your body fat percentage in addition to weight can be helpful since sometimes gaining muscle adds weight while your body fat is dropping. It's not all about that one number on the scale.
Keep in mind that you don't have to own a Fitbit tracker to download and use the Fitbit app: you can use it for the Fitbit scale alone. But you'll get the most of it by combining the Fitbit smart scale with a Fitbit tracker or smartwatch.
