Discover the right laundry appliances for your home
Who said laundry needs to be a chore? Today's laundry appliances feature the latest in technology and come loaded with advanced features so you can clean your clothes faster and more effectively. With so many designs and features to choose from, you'll be sure to find the perfect laundry appliances for your household.
Washers and dryers
Washers come in top load and front load models. Top load washers come equipped with a top-mounted door so you can easily load and unload clothing without having to crouch down. Front load washers are more environmentally conscious as they consume less water and energy than traditional top load washers. Dryers fall into 2 camps as well. Electric dryers use electricity to heat the air inside the dryer, while gas dryers use natural gas or propane as a heat source.
Laundry Pairs
Consider getting a matching laundry pair if you're in need of new laundry appliances or are planning on replacing just your washing machine or dryer. Laundry pairs are designed to work together and take the guesswork out of capacity compatibility.
What to consider when laundry appliance shopping
Your space
Measure your space before you start shopping for laundry appliances. Washers and dryers need at least 1 inch of space between each other for proper air circulation and 4 to 6 inches of depth to accommodate dryer vents and hookups. If space is limited in your home, opt for a laundry centre. These stacked units save valuable space by placing the dryer above a top load washer.
Size and capacity
The size of your laundry appliances will depend on the amount of people in your household and how much laundry you do. A washer that's 5 cu. ft. or larger is ideal if you have multiple family members or roommates, while a 4 to 4.9 cu. ft. washer will generally satisfy the laundry needs of 2 to 3 people. The capacity of your dryer should be approximately twice the size of your washer as this gives your wet clothing enough space to dry efficiently.
Laundry accessories
You'll need a stacking kit if you plan on stacking your dryer on top of the washer. A laundry pedestal may also come in handy as it elevates your front load washer or dryer to a more convenient height. Make sure to check compatibility and find a stacking kit or laundry pedestal that fits your specific washer and dryer models. Want to smooth the wrinkles out of your shirts and pants fast?
