All Hail Star Wars Day!

Star Wars Day, which takes place on May 4th each year, is the one day of the year when Star Wars fans the world over unite in celebration of that epic galaxy far, far away. On this day, fans gather together to watch the epic films, play Star Wars themed games (video games, RPGs, and board games), and many even partake in cosplay by dressing up as their favourite Star Wars characters. But why on May 4th you ask? Because May the Forth be with you! (Just in case you didn’t quite get that, it’s a play on “May the Force be with you!”)

What Star Wars films are there?

The Star Wars film universe consists of 11 major features and countless other film and TV projects, including both cartoons and live-action series’. The key pieces of the story are probably the three films of the original trilogy (like A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back), the prequel trilogy that followed (which culminated in Revenge of the Sith), and Disney’s sequel trilogy that recently concluded the epic Skywalker saga with the long awaited release of The Rise of Skywalker. This blockbuster film was recently released on DVD, meaning that you can now complete your Star Wars DVD collection with the incredible story that was over 4 decades in the making.

What are some popular Star Wars toys?

From the early days of Star Wars, fans have clamoured for and collected a variety of toys based on the blockbuster film franchise. Among the most popular of these are action figures like the 3.75” and 6” characters of the highly detailed Black Series line from Hasbro. More recently, Funko Pop figures have emerged and captured the hearts of fans with their cute, oversized heads.

Star Wars LEGO is another fan favourite. These fun and challenging sets range in size and complexity from just a handful of pieces to several hundred pieces.
