Through these grants, students will have access to the latest technology to motivate their learning and set them up for success.
Who can apply? Any publicly funded secondary school in Canada in need of new tech to help students excel. Schools with students primarily in grades 8 to 12.

Introducing Teen Tech Grants

In need of new tech? You could win up to $10,000.

We've provided $4 million in technology to Canadian public schools since 2018.

Through our new Teen Tech Grants program, schools can get grants of up to $10,000 to purchase tech to support basic needs, libraries, STEM courses, and so much more.

All Teen Tech Grant winners will automatically become a part of our new Teen Tech Network, a national community of teens who can collaborate on projects and compete for prizes and additional funding for their schools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for multiple grants?

Each school may submit one Teen Tech Grant application, but may submit a separate Teen Tech Teams grant application for different teams.

Who should be involved in creating the application?

Applications can be created by one teacher, or by several staff with the support of their students, parents, and/or school board leadership. The most successful applications are generally those developed by a team of stakeholders. The application must be approved by the principal of the school, with support, or within the guidelines of the school district or board.

How do we select our winners?

Teen Tech Grant winners will be determined by a cross-sectional panel of Best Buy Canada employees. The panel will select schools based on the quality of the applications provided, the impact the new technology will have on the students, and other considerations, including but not limited to: how the technology purchased with the grant will inspire, motivate and empower students; how the new technology will level playing fields for students with challenges and/or bring innovation to the classroom; how many students will be impacted by the donation; and the school’s need for resources.

When do we announce the results?

Results will be announced in October 2024.

Am I only allowed to spend my grant money at Best Buy?

We pride ourselves on having the latest and greatest technology that students need to excel in school and have a dedicated team who can help teachers with their purchases. Our Best Buy for Education team has access to products and devices that are specifically designed for teachers and is happy to assist recipients and make the most of their grants. We do, however, recognize that many items may not be available for purchase from Best Buy. As well, schools may bound by school district-approved vendors impacting the technology that can be purchased, installed, and serviced in schools. For this reason, we provide monetary donations.
